CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
“Holistic, multidisciplinary care for chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, focused on the patient”
The Crohn’s and Colitis Centre, located at Hôpital de la Tour, is the first and only centre specialising in chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Geneva.
The centre was founded and is directed by PD Dr Sophie Restellini, a recognised expert in the field of IBD.
She also holds key positions within the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) and sits on the Steering Committee of the Swiss Organisation of Experts in IBD (IBDnet). She regularly collaborates with specialists in Switzerland, Europe and North America, where she also completed part of her training.
IBD affects many aspects of life and can impact organs other than the digestive tract. That is why its management requires a comprehensive, coordinated approach. The Crohn’s and Colitis Centre stands out for its ability to support patients at every stage of their lives, bringing together specialists dedicated to the care of both children and adults.
The multidisciplinary team includes gastroenterologists, nurses specialising in IBD, nutritionists, surgeons, pathologists and other experts, ensuring comprehensive, collaborative and personalised treatments.
The Centre’s founding principle is to offer excellent medical care that focuses on the patient and not just on their clinical symptoms.
Our mission is to develop a tailor-made treatment plan, aligned with the optimal quality of care recommendations defined by the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO).
At the Crohn’s and Colitis Centre, we do everything we can to improve our patients’ quality of life and offer them the best possible treatment.
The management of IBD is complex and requires rigorous monitoring of the disease’s progression, careful monitoring of treatment side effects, and an interdisciplinary and holistic approach that integrates medication, lifestyle and dietary changes, and emotional management related to these diseases.
We support our patients from the moment they receive their diagnosis to the management of any complications, with an integrative approach combining:
